Having been to several Smokehouse type restaurants in Bristol (my hometown) and Weston Super Mare, I was intrigued to try Blues Smokehouse which is close to my place of work in Bracknell.
I visited Wednesday lunchtime, it wasn’t overly busy when we arrived and we were seated and presented with menus as expected. We ordered our drinks and food. The drinks came as expected, the food also was within the time I’d expect.
However, the food is where I was disappointed, I asked for a burger with no sauce, the staff member even repeated the fact I had asked for no sauce, yet of course it arrived with sauce included. That horrible pink stuff, that ruins any food in my opinion.
The pulled port and brisket with the burger was very mushy, I expected the brisket to be a bit more burnt (compared to other similar restaurants). The burger itself was ok, but nothing to write home about. My friends Veggie burger was described as average too, he gave it a 3/10.
The biggest issue was trying to get the bill, it took 3 attempts with 3 different members of staff to finally get the bill, not good when we were on a lunch break.
We both chose between Blues Smokehouse and TGI Friday in Reading, both regretting the choice of not going to TGI.
